Just some things. Cause I'm burnt out.
--
You know, it’s funny.
For that last post, as an in-your-face follow-up to the angry one before it, I was going to write about an unexpected fun time in another city which involved, among other things, an empty bar after-hours and a pinball machine.
But the other memory had surfaced, essentially demanding to be written.
So there it is.
I took the high road.
--
Other things are in my brain.
Some are dirty and funky.
Some are emotional or contemplative.
Eventually, I’ll run out of things I am willing to explore here and then I’ll be done.
Or maybe not.
--
Found myself last night, through my partner, at some real-estate company's Christmas party in Boston. I thought it was going to just be some stuffed shirt suit-and-tie affair. Turned out to be 200+ people in a bar/restaurant, almost completely gay, and with an open bar!
All these gay boys, why is it I don't know any of these people?
Cause I don't run in their circles, that's why. I keep choosing unglamorous professions.
--
Why am I doing this - the blogging thing?
I know the main reason – working through my shit in public.
But there’s the social aspect, too. I wanted to reach out through the ether in ways I couldn’t in the physical world.
It’s an odd way to meet people, though: brief bursts of feverish communication followed by endless periods of silence. Moments of intense warmth invariably leading to a cold emptiness which, in turn, makes it urgent that you experience the warmth again. Painful and addicting. Potentially rewarding.
But it’s nothing more than conversations in extreme slow motion.
And the end results are the same as in reality: acceptance is thrilling and brings hope, rejection is stinging and brings despair – but of course, on a smaller, more virtual scale.
--
That said, I am looking forward to my first real-time conversations tomorrow night with fellow Boston bloggers over a friendly game of Texas Hold’em – and possibly drinks?

Awesome. Cool blog page. I'm bookmarking it for future visits.
If you want a really good laugh, read www.horacefinkle.blogspot.com
Possibly. I hadn't thought of it as a heavy alcohol evening but there'll be some wine and some decent beer. The latter depends on your concept of "dewcent." Mine isn't standard American horse piss beer.
Oh god, no, I wasn't planning on subjecting you to *really-drunk* me. Well really-drunk me isn't that bad either, just a bit more chatty, untill he thankfully passes out. Speaking of which, night all!
hmm.. your take on blogging seems pretty dead on.
I'd be curious what you thought of meeting your fellow bloggers but I guess being that they probably read your blog, it becomes a difficult task to do, non?
I smell what you are stepping in. I have to say though out of this whole blog thing I have met some really great people. I have my everyday people, my once a week people, my people who make me laugh, my people who get me off, my people who have more problems then me. That is why I choose to blog. Plus we are apart of something.
just my thoughts on the matter.

jjd: Pas du tout. Surprisingly, I didn't have any problem at all. Will I still post similar things as I have before? I think yes... I think the trick is to temporarily forget I met them, write it, post it, and resume normal thoughts.
D: Sniff, sniff... is that what that was?
Yeah, the meeting of people is the potential positive from all this. And yeah, we are part of something.
Hey, Daigle, always feel free to drop a thought.
